Christmas 2011 #1

Here is a picture of AJ with his Christmas sweater. Also, my cute little Christmas tree that a neighbor gave me.

The pig

My youngest son enjoys Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland - he tells me that in the latest one out the Red Queen shouts for her 'pig', it is brought to her (a live pig) and she uses it as a step stool. Well, my son decided he wanted a 'pig' of his own, so I made him one. It is stuffed with foam pieces in an inner pig and the outside is made of mottled pink and white polar fleece that closes with Velcro.

My make believe kitchen window

I sure miss having a window in my kitchen, so I decided to see if I could make a fake one - think it turned out fairly well.

door knob hangers

These have been just so much fun to sew up - cut the shapes out of some fabric that lent itself to this with pinking sheers - put the same design on both sides - sewed three sides (w/ribbon) stuffed it and then sewed the bottom - what a blast.

Origami bag - 2011

Haven't made one of these in a year or more, and thought it would make a neat prize for Bingo. I'll make a couple more before next week.

Thats a picture of my new lamp shade - I just love it. Also, throw pillow for the sofa - trying to go to lighter colors.

small pillows

I used the vanishing nine patch for the fronts of these pillows (12" X 12"). One has a yoyo on the front, the other has psuedo suede cloth on the reverse side.

For those who don't know what a yo yo is, they are the little round disks in the picture on the right. (Twin didn't know what one was).

Pillow cases and coasters

Having fun the last few days just sewing up a storm - pillow cases with ruffles and a set of coasters that I will probably use as prize for Bingo this Wednesday.

The bunny

This fabric is a little hard to make out details with. I have to make her a sun dress yet - it will be in either white or muslin fabric. Remind me that I don't care to do dolls....

Rooster fabric tote

I picked up the fabric for this tote at Stars and Stripes quilt shop in Corona, California last Friday. It was pretty pricey, so I only bought one yard. I used a black and white checked trim and handles with a red lining. I will be giving it as a prize tomorrow night at bingo.

Quilt Run 2011

These are the gals in my quilting group. We all get quite well. I dearly love them all. Except for one, weight is our biggest problem. I'm hoping that when the Prednison gets out of my system, I will drop some pounds - I've been off it for around three weeks now. That's me on the right.

New purses

Found a neat pattern for purses in one of my quilting magazines - made one for my neighbor (yellow and blue) and one to have on hand in case I need a gift.

Peanuts Security Shirt

I just love this tiny little pooch - she weighs about 4# and prances around like a Princess. She loves AJ - he mostly ignores her - and does a lot of growling at her - she steals his food - and he chases her - she doesn't care - I guess she figures any attention is better than none at all.

Childs matching Hat and Purse

This hat and purse was made for my Dneighbors Great Grand Daughter. The outside shell of each is fashioned from four different pink prints - the linings of each is a frog print by Debbie Mumm. They are both completely reversible.

Hat

Simply could not find my patterns for hats, so had to purchase a new one - I usually get a child's pattern, as the head size is pretty much the same, and they generally have more choices. I will call this a 'petal hat' - it is for a gal here in the apartment complex - she has beet red hair and is a fun person to be around. I hope she likes it.

Disappearing nine-patch table cloth

My latest endeavor, this is a small table cloth for my tea cart, made from a pattern someone sent me in an e-mail. It is called the Disappearing Nine-patch. I started out with nine 5" squares, sewed together 3X3, cut in half vertically and horizontally, then moved around whichever way I pleased. Fun and fast.

Camilla Wall Hanging

I've decided that I need some brighter colors in my bedroom - so this little wall hanging fills the bill.

AJ and Peanut

Here is a picture of AJ and our neighbor pooch, Peanut. She is a female and loves to harrass AJ in any way she can. He is getting used to her and we have explained that this is just how gals are.

AJ the Pooch

Well, here he is - AJ - my new dog. Actually, he is not too new - AJ is a six year old Chihuahua/terrior mix. He is about five pounds overweight, not leash trained, but a sweet mild mannered pooch - so far, he has shed all over the apartment, cried constantly and for the last few minutes, finally fell asleep - I will keep working with him - he came from DS#2 and belonged to one of my grand daughters who lives around 60 miles away in Newport Beach.

Newest wall hanging

So here I am, back in the sewing mood again. Just finished up this little wall hanging (got the idea from one hanging on a neighbors door). Thought I would try the French Country colors that I find so pretty. It still needs a ribbon bow at the top, but thought I would post it anyway.

Reader Cover

Here are some pictures of the SONY pocket reader cover that I made today - the reader is wonderful, as I finally can read the newspaper at my leisure, in my recliner. We cannot receive newspapers here at the Old Folks Home, as my building is a secure one and they leave the newspaper outside - where little gremlins pick them up and take them away - away - away.
